So they said, they patched up. No more bickering between PBS and BPRS after all they are in the same house - BN. Thank you.
PBS President Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and the PBRS President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup decided to ‘sign the truce’ between them last Tuesday, following the intervention of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, held in Keningau.
For several weeks the two leaders were throwing mud at each other on the issue of which political party or rather who is the most politically right person to be fielded as candidate to face opposition in Pensiangan by-election.
The intervention by Musa Aman was not in any way involved in discussing who and from what party will the candidate be chosen from to represent BN.
While the decision to whether there will be a by-election won’t be known until the Court of Appeal decides on February 12th and 13th.
PBS Deputy President, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said, PBS is not in position to ask for the seat because it was originally belong to PBRS, but nonetheless if given a chance PBS has strong support in Pensiangan. Indirectly, he was saying he has a candidate, a Murut, a former MP of Pensiangan -Bennerd Maraat from PBS; ironically Maraat was a former Deputy President of PBRS.
As of today, if a candidate is from BPRS to represent BN it must be none other than the Party President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, whose seat was nullified, which led to the likely of by-election.
Many people praised Court’s decision because they viewed Kurup’s winning was by dubious means.
Pensiangan is situated deep in the interior of Sabah about 200 kilometers from Kota Kinabalu and about 20 kilometers from Sabah and Kalimantan border.
It has about 19,000 voters predominantly of Murut origin-but within it, they have about seven sub-Muruts found through out Sabah.
The usual argument therefore when come to selecting candidate here as it has always been, a person isn’t just the right person but he or she must be of Murut by origin.
PBRS likewise is predominantly Murut based political party but PBS too have Murut followers, that is why selecting a candidate isn’t as easy as plucking coffee beans here. The prerequisite of course the voters demand he or she must be Murut.
While from the opposition side two names floating around, one is Danny Andipai from PKR whose candidacy was disqualified against Kurup by the retaining officer in the last General Election in Pensiangan.
Another, the Vice- President of PKR, Dr Jeffery Kitingan, he is not a Murut, but would Pensiangan voters still thick on the issue of race when comes to Jeffery, after all, Sook is the other half of Pensiangan comprised of mostly Dusun.

Don’t underestimate the BN, even though 80% of local vote goes to PR in Pensiangan you would be surprise BN would emerge winner because the “Pengundi Hantu” would outnumber the local. Just give RM30 to each local voters plus Tapai then during the election time somebody will cast the vote (to BN)on behalf of the local. This is exactly what happen during the PRU12. BN is well prepared to face any election any time as they have all the weapon ready to cheat Sabahan which they learn off course from UMNO

sorry, in politic you can’t save by the bell.

Danny Andipai should be given is chance to contest. Jeffrey is ‘old’ Sabah trying to hold on with different powers that-be.
He should take a back seat as should his erstwhile brother, Pairin and the other Joseph, too.

In this time and age, I totally have no faith in recycled Sabah politicians.
Money, power, & greed are the trait marks of all Sabah politicians, and so no matter who wins the Pesianang seat, that politician will be on sale to the highest bidder.
With migrant voters outnumbering us real Sabahans 2 to 1, Sabah will remain UMNO’s “fixed deposite” for the forseeable future.

I said this seat would fall to PKR this time. Kurup won on small majority in 2004 when the people threw their support behind Pak Lah just to get the message across to Mamak Kutty.
Pensaingan is a lost case to BN. Just mark my words!

I am a Nabawan vote. For the past 2 elections, I voted for BN with the hope our problems in Nabawan are taken care by BN. But we were wrong. Tihis time , I will go for PKR.

Haiyah, I wish so much to sokong your hope but am afraid you may be disappointed again. You see, Pensiangan and, Tambunan for that matter, is still very very backward in terms of development and so the promise of development will still sell very well in these areas. Compounding this is the fact that the majority of the voters in Pensiangan are illeterate or not graduates of even PMR or SPM. Thus, I applaud the effort by a former MP there who initiated an Education Foundation for the Murut kids. I hope that Foundation is still in existence and helping deserving kids get educated.
A friend of mine who attended an important function organised by Danny some time back is very sure that Danny will LOSE if he is fielded. The attendance to that function held in his own kg was very poor, he said. The guy whose name means ‘bad or very bad” has a much better chance, he said.
PBS should demand that they represent Pensiangan this time round. JKurap is a spent force.

Wonder if in political has second chance-looking back at our experience-those in politics stick to it like his own private property. Once holds never let go even in the eyes of many he or she is nut. TQ

RSL
Ya, but this recycle keeps on coming no matter how much ones want them out!
At the same token, do we have fresh starters to begin with to change the landscape-we’d better think of this- TQ

You seem to be familiar with the place . I used to be there in the late 90s.
Thing can all look alright the whole week but it could also be wiped out in a matter of hours or even minutes before casting their votes. It happened all the time

RSL, I agree that these recycled polititions are becoming redundant and shd be sent to the pilotical archives. But u see, they r the ones who have accumulated millions of the Rakyats’ ringgit over the years and so r in the position to BUY the ketua cawangans votes during their pemilihan conventions. Just like those in AMUNO/BEE End …. money politics, more money politics and coruptions. Recycled corrupt politicians should not only be not trusted but they should be rejected outright. Look at that Tambunan ADUN.. have been Adun for more than 30 years with very little to show in terms of meaningful and lasting development but he keeps getting voted in every election. R we really that short of candidates to replace all these deadwoods whose minds r already “beku” in finding new ways to improve the standard of living of our poor and less fortunate brothers and sisters?
Only a complete change of Government will we be able to get rid of these expired politicians.
Hope Pensiangan will lead the way for Sabah. Send that minion politician JKurap to his retirement and become a kampong ‘jagu’ with his bell bottom long pants.
Cheers.
BTW, did you not read the article by one Rayner F Udong in FORUM last Sunday. You must have cos your article was in page 17, his appeared in page 15. Sheesh, can you believe that guy. He must be a complete moron, a pathetic useless moron. What a simpleton! After 45 yrs under the present Racist and Corrupt AMENO/BN Govt., this moron says that the Pensiangan people are very happy with what the corrupt and racist BEE End Govt had done to Pensiangan. When Malaya has for years enjoyed multilevel highways and sophisticated railway lines, LRT. Petronas twin Buildings, etc.. this fool says they are already very happy with the basic ameneties that they have now. Does he speak for the majority of Pensiangan people or is he talking for himself only? To me , this kind of person is utterly selfish and live inside a tiny tempurung or even if he has seen a better world, which I am sure he has, he wants to keep the poor, simple, unassuming Pensiangan folks in the dark ages. He tells them that what they have now is all there is in life. They dont need better infrastructures, more primary schools, secondary schools or even a University in that dogforsaken palce. He wants to tell them not to expect any more in life, to resign themselves to a life of inadequacies, poor health services, poor schools, etc… With mentality as this moron has, is it any wonder that we have not heard of any significant improvement in the lives of the big majority of the people in the interior of Sabah? He is a typical BEE END lapdog, a ball kisser, a scumbag. HE says that BE End have looked after them well. So they dont need any change. How selfish and shortsighted one can be.
Cheers.
