Dust has just settled in Kuala Terenggnu. I am referring to the by-election, which was just concluded. Many people predicated PAS to win. It did.
They made it right this time. But what many didn’t get it right was the number of majority. I know, a hell of a job to get this one precisely right. No one could, not even the king of bomohs.
There is one more by-election looming in the horizon, that is, P182, Pensiangan in Sabah.
Tan Sri Joseph Kurup the President of PBRS, held this Parliamentary constituency until it was nullified by the Court of law recently.
PBRS is one of BN components political party in the State.
Kurup won the seat in the last March General Election uncontested by a sheer silap mata and this was then reflected in the decision made by the Court but because there was further appeal by Kurup, Pensiangan now becomes a dream world for Malaysians, everyone is waiting for another magical moment, that is, Court decision.
I’m sure it is going to be equally highly anticipated by-election should the court decide to make it happen.
In other words, wherever is by-election held from now onwards, it’s going to be a grand fanfare, every constituency is considered as litmus test to both BN and PR .
While suspense is growing on, there has been already mud slinging- exchanges of pantuns taking place back and forth between PBRS and PBS in our local media-both BN components, “they are having a little fun” according to Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, the President of UPKO (another BN component).
The assent is, and by the sound of it, PBS has the intention to field their candidate, while Kurup is adamant that Pensiangan is his rightful place no one else, a kind of take Pensiangan only over my dead body, otherwise no touch. The argument is therefore about competing Murut candidates.
I’m sure here is no Klang Valley, and don’t dream to be a candidate if one is not a Murut, let alone to win the election.
In the past, a constituency like Pensiangan which is deep in interior of Sabah caused not much difficulty to BN. BN as BN has always been capable in luring people to vote for them. In other words, simple people requires only simple mechanism, none other than providing voters with cash and goodies.
You see, with a token of RM50, supply the kampong folks with rusty zinc roofs and dented plastic water tanks, would sufficient to make their hearts turn as meek as well-fed baby.
Hand those goodies and cash while they are intoxicated by akar bahar, and by the time they are sober you would probably be a YB already, repeat the process in every four years. That is why Pensiangan forever looks the same.

However interestingly last election, PBRS didn’t win with a landslide. In fact, it’s considered marginal. Considering with the ahem…………

Ya we really don’t know for how long this money money money a factor. It would be harder to go by in remote kampongs-we hope kampong people change given the right attitude by the younger generation.

PBS had introduced the anti-hop law but UMNO had successfully challenged it through Tun Mustapha. The Kota Kinabalu High Court ruled that the anti-hop law was against the Federal Constitution.
If there is defection in favour of UMNO, UMNO leaders are praising high. But when defection is against UMNO they are not only crying but angry like mad man. This is typical of UMNO. UMNO thinks that the world is theirs. Come Sabahan and Pensiangan voters, vote for PKR and get rid of this UMNO-BN corrupted people from Sabah and Malaysia!

Aiyah JJ. Betul ke sakap u ni? When BN gives you KWAP, half now, half after the buy-election, all of you will vote B End. Takut tak dapat itu duit KWAP. Tengoklah Tambunan people during last election. 70 - 80 % were already “kepuasan” with Pairin but PKR still lost bcos of the KWAP!!
But I hope I am wronglah gaman. I hope the voters will vote for change, and give Pakatan Rakyat the chance to run Sabah for one term. Klau mcam B End jugak, we kick them out next round. Agree?
